John T. Wood

John T. Wood is a historian and collector of American antique arms, specializing in the firearms and edged weaponry manufactured in the Southern Confederacy 1861-1865, early American Bowie knives, Kentucky rifles and their accoutrements, and the varied armaments of the American patriot soldier of the Revolutionary War.

Mr. Wood has assisted the Chesterfield Historical Society, appraising for their annual antique appraisal fairs for the last six years. He assists individuals and groups in evaluating their military antiques.

He graduated with honors from the University of Virginia in 1973 and the T.C. Williams School of Law, University of Richmond in 1975. He has practiced law in the City of Petersburg, Virginia, for more than forty years.

In addition to currently serving on the Crater District Planning Commission and the Tri-Cities Metropolitan Planning Commission, Mr. Wood is a current member of the Colonial Heights, Virginia, City Council and a former two-term mayor of the City of Colonial Heights.
