L. Lyman Speckheuer

Lyman Speckheuer is the owner and manager of Fine Art Specialists in Virginia Beach, VA, a company which specializes in handling damaged art, frames, textiles, documents, textiles, photos and other items requiring special handling involved in insurance losses . In addition to her own restoration services, her network includes certified appraisers, a clock restoration specialist and other specialized services for the industry.

A BFA graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Speckheuer has worked in insurance restoration since 1991, initially for the local TCM Corporation as Art Recovery and Conservation and later in 1999 when she formed her own company as Fine Art specialists. She also enjoys working on restoration projects for private individuals.
Ms. Speckheuer has lived in Virginia Beach since 1988.

She moved here from Germany where she continued her post-graduate studies (after learning to speak German) at the Art University in Braunschweig (Hochschule fuer Bildende Kuenste). She was able to build on her art history minor at UT Austin and further study lithography and intaglio printmaking techniques.

Ms. Speckheuer has participated in art evaluations for public television fundraisers for WHRO in Hampton Roads and for Maryland Public Television's popular series, Chesapeake Collectibles, on which she has appeared for the first 7 seasons and will film season 8 this summer.

She has also been involved in promoting sustainable retail options by sponsoring the ShopGreen 757 cooperative of small businesses that features local handcrafts, sustainable products and Fair Trade items. She has owned Eco Trends since 2006 which features Shop Green757 vendors at the Shore Drive Farm Market in Virginia Beach.
